Marvel's Wolverine Limited Edition PS5 Console Announced, Plus Physical Disc Drive Covers
About
Overview
PlayStation 5 exclusive Marvel's Wolverine will be accompanied by a limited edition PS5 console bundle, plus cover plates for both digital PS5 consoles and those with disc drives. Available from September 15 alongside Insomniac's new game, the Marvel's Wolverine Limited Edition PS5 Digital Edition Bundle and accessories sports a yellow-colored design inspired by Logan's classic suit. Both the console and accompanying controller feature the appearance of a striking claw slash, while a roaring Wolverine appears on the console's upper third. By "bundle" here, Sony appears to be just meaning you get the controller with your console. Despite appearing in pictures, you still don't get the console's vertical stand included. Like the look of this design but don't want to buy a whole new console? In this economy, I do not blame you. Well, Sony will also be selling console covers for the PS5 (Slim) and PS5 Pro to slap this look on your existing machine. And yes, this will include covers for consoles with a disc drive too. PS5 Pro owners get an additional color option that switches the yellow for silvery white — sorry, "adamantium", if that floats your boat. An accompanying silvery white Wolverine controller will also launch. All of the gear will be sold via PlayStation Direct website where available and select retailers, while stocks last. Pricing is as follows:
Previous promotional pushes for Marvel's Wolverine have been hit by complaints surrounding PlayStation's recent highly-controversial decision to kill discs for new PS5 games from January 2028 onwards. (To be clear, developer Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel's Wolverine will include a disc in its box.) Today's announcement is no different, with comments on the YouTube version of PlayStation's Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Digital Console Bundle trailer pointing out that Sony has once again deprioritized discs by not launching a disc version of the Wolverine console. "Wolverine would have fought for physical media rights," wrote one fan. "Wolverine loves to get Physical," said another. So, are you tempted? Tom Phillips is IGN's News Editor.
