Overview

Agents of SHIELD star Clark Gregg, most famous for playing Agent Phil Coulson in the first Avengers movie, has teased his involvement with the just-announced Marvel TV show, Zodiac.

Marvel announced Zodiac at a New York Comic Con panel yesterday with a logo, below, a 2028 release window, and little else. We know it's a spy thriller and, based on the logo, it has something to do with SHIELD. Hot on the heels of the reveal, Gregg shared the announcement to his Instagram, sparking speculation that the two shows are linked.

The logo for the show features the show’s title, Zodiac, with a stylized “o” and a stylized “a.” The “a” has a little eagle head in the middle, mirroring the SHIELD logo.

"For anyone who knows the comics, if you look closely at this title design, you’ll see a few clues about where we’re going," Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum told the audience during the announcement. "I can’t tell you anything else about it yet because it’s a secret. We're going to start casting it in a couple weeks.”

Agents of SHIELD ended back in 2020 and saw Gregg’s Agent Coulson return from beyond the grave in android form. However, the series is not listed on the Disney+ "MCU Complete Timeline" section, which features every single canon MCU movie, TV series, and one-off special, so its place in official Marvel canon is unclear.

Details

Chloe Bennet, who played Daisy, recently said she's "still low-key angry" that Agents of SHIELD isn't considered fully part of MCU canon — though has insisted she would reprise her role if asked. Fans are hoping to see the return of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in Zodiac, which is named after a criminal organization made up of bad guys named after zodiac signs. Nick Fury’s brother, Scorpio, is one of them.

Of course, there’s been no official word on where Zodiac will go. All we know is that it’s a spy thriller, and if it goes in another direction to the comics, it wouldn’t be the first time for the MCU.

Elsewhere in Marvel TV shows, Daredevil: Born Again will end with Season 3. Ahead of that wrapping up, VisionQuest is landing on Disney+ on October 14, and the showrunners said they didn’t pay much attention to the wider MCU when putting the story together.

VisionQuest sees Paul Bettany reprise his role as Vision on the run from people seeking to weaponize him. The limited series will be eight episodes long. In case you missed it, here's everything announced at the Marvel TV and Animation panel at NYCC 2026.
