Drakong’s New Attack on Titan-Themed Collectible Controllers Come In a Blind Box
About
Overview
Drakong, a sub-brand of Hyperkin, today announced the PixelByte controller range, a new line of collectible controllers themed after Attack on Titan. These cute, keychain-sized controllers look a bit like a pixelated NES controller paired with one of several characters from Attack on Titan, and will be available via a somewhat unconventional manner: a blind box. Despite their size, layout, and distribution method, the PixelByte controllers are fully functional, compatible with PC, Switch 1 and 2, iOS, Android, and other Bluetooth devices. They offer approximately 12 hours of wireless gameplay, and are rechargeable via USB-C. Each PixelByte blind box contains one of seven possible variants, pairing a unique colorway with a chibi charm of Attack on Titan characters like Eren, Mikasa, Levi, and Hange. There's also one rare chase variant that's found at a lower rate than the rest. I can't say that a blind box is the most idea way to buy a controller, so I doubt the PixelByte line will make our list of the best controllers for PC or Switch, but I could see the appeal from the collectible side of things. I'm personally not one for blind boxes, but my Pokémon card collection will attest that I'm very familiar with the concept of cracking open physical loot boxes at the prospect of scoring something rare and shiny. The PixelByte controllers are available for pre-order now for $24.99 per box. Bo Moore is IGN's Senior Manager of Tech. You can find him online @usebomswisely.
