Gears of War: E-Day system requirements require ray tracing-capable graphics card to play, alongside 115 GB of free space on an SSD
About
Overview
Gears of War: E-Day is set to launch on October 6, though there's early access available before then. In the lead up to launch, The Coalition has posted expanded system requirements for the upcoming bug blast. These include what the game asks of your rig for top performance on the top settings—it's not easygoing, to say the least—but providing your GPU is at least capable of ray tracing, most should get by fine on medium settings. An RTX 5070 Ti or RX 7900 XT will be required in order to run the game at 4K with the Ultra preset enabled. This is targeting a steady 60 fps, and I would assume, from the 12 GB of VRAM noted in the table below, that one should be able to swing it on a lower-end card with some assistance from upscaling. Gears of War: E-Day supports DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 3.0 at launch, so we're not short of options there. MINIMUM RECOMMENDED ULTRA Graphic preset Medium High Ultra Performance 1080p 60 fps (DLSS / FSR / TSR / XeSS) 1440p 60+ fps (DLSS / FSR / TSR / XeSS) 4K 60+ FPS (DLSS / FSR / TSR / XeSS) GPU Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 / Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 6600 / Radeon RX 9060 Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 / Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT / Radeon RX 9060 XT Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT CPU AMD Ryzen 5 2600X / Intel i7 6850K / i5 10400 AMD Ryzen 5 5600 / Intel i5 11600K AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Intel i7 14700K VRAM 6 GB 8 GB 12 GB RAM 12 GB 16 GB 16 GB Storage 115 GB 115 GB 115 GB Otherwise, GPU demands are similar to those we saw back in June: an RTX 2060 or RX 6600 at a minimum, or an RTX 3060 Ti/6700 XT as recommended. It's only at 4K Ultra that demands seem to really ramp up. Though there is a blanket requirement for a ray tracing-capable graphics card to play Gears of War: E-Day. The devs explicitly say so on the new system requirements table: "A hardware ray tracing capable graphics card is required. Graphics cards without dedicated hardware ray tracing support are not support." You can't ask for it to be clearer than that. The game comes with ray-traced reflections, shadows, and global illumination. CPU demands are pretty wide-ranging: from a mere Ryzen 5 2600X at a minimum, to a Ryzen 5 5600 as recommended. For 4K Ultra, it looks like eight cores or more are best; furthermore, a 3D V-Cache chip is recommend: the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The studio also suggests an Intel Core i7 14700K. I'd assume newer Arrow Lake chips would suffice, too, despite their slightly weaker performance at times. RAM requirements are modest enough, even at 4K, at a mere 16 GB. Though only 12 GB are required to play the game. You'll have to make way for the game on an SSD, however, as 115 GB of storage space is required. That does actually need to be a solid state drive, so sayeth the devs.Details
