How to complete The Vanished Warder in Gothic Remake
About
Overview
Once you arrive in the Old Camp in the Gothic Remake, you'll need to beat a handful of quests to complete the Casting Shadows quest for Diego. One such task is The Vanished Warder quest, which you can pick up from Sly near the gate. He'll ask you to find his missing friend Nek, which involves speaking to a bunch of people and eventually tracking down the lost warder. I'll explain all of the major steps below so you don't have to waste time searching for Nek in the wrong places—very easily done if you haven't immediately purchased a map. Once you speak to Sly to start The Vanished Warder quest, he'll suggest you speak to Fletcher, a warder by the arena and your shack on the left side of the Old Camp. Fletcher sends you to talk to Guy, a miner in the same area, who passes you on to Snaf, the chef to the left of the gates. Eventually, you'll learn that Snaf sent Nek out to find hellcap mushrooms. You don't need to speak to these characters in order to find Nek, but it is a good excuse to learn more about the Old Camp and its inhabitants. In fact, my quest bugged and I couldn't speak to Guy or Snaf about Nek, but it didn't prevent me from completing it—no need to roll back your save if you run into this issue too. As I demonstrate in the video above, to find Nek, you need to: When you speak to Sly, he will ask you for evidence of Nek's death. You can either hand him the amulet or lie and keep it to yourself. I recommend giving Sly Nek's amulet so that he'll put in a good word for you with Diego. Since Snaf sent Nek to find various ingredients, this is also the perfect opportunity to complete both The Forgotten Recipe and Snaf's Recipe quests. Just pick up the nearby hellcap mushrooms and solanaceae, since they are two of the ingredients you'll need.
