How to escape Xanthe's trap in The Blood of Dawnwalker
About
Overview
Working out how to escape Xanthe's trap in The Blood of Dawnwalker took me a lot longer than I'd like to admit. This event only occurs during your assault on Griefberg Castle if you chose not to spare Xanthe, or straight up killed her before starting the final sequence. Obviously, this guide will contain some spoilers, but I'll also explain how to escape the trap she leaves for you from beyond the grave. The key to getting through Xanthe's labyrinth lies in the banners you can see hanging up next to each door. You should go through the doors that have the banner pictured above next to them—triangular, pointing downward, with a kind of tentacled eye depicted on them. There's actually a note earlier in the castle you can read, which explains the only way to get into the dungeon is by following the banners. If you've just entered the trap, you'll have to fight the enemies in the main room, go through the door ahead and to your left, and pull back the bookcase to reveal a hole you should drop down. After that, enter the main room again, fight the enemies, look for the door with that banner next to it, and drop down again. One last time: enter the main room, kill the enemies, find the banner, go through the door next to it and drop down the hole. With this, you'll find that you've escaped the trap and can continue through Griefberg Castle. If you're still struggling, just remember, you need to go through the door with that triangular, downward, tentacled-eye banner, and keep doing it until you escape.
