Neon Abyss 2 has a new final boss, a release date, and at least 1 massive fish worth many, many points
About
Overview
Back in 2020, the first Neon Abyss served us up a run 'n' gun roguelike filled with glorious colour, overwhelming action, and like a billion possible builds. It was a sugary-sweet thinker of a game, so it was, tickling all the bestial regions of your brain even while it put that grey matter to work. Well, now it's back. We just saw Neon Abyss 2 at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct and, brother, there sure is a lot going on here. The game's gearing up for an October 8 release date—it's currently out in early access—and to celebrate it's getting a new final boss: Theia, God of Vanity. Release date: October 8, 2026 Neon! Co-op! Running! Gunning! Up to three friends! Perhaps fishing! And definitely a whole new final boss called Theia: God of Vanity. Neon Abyss 2 is gearing up for its full release, and it looks chaotic, inexplicable, and utterly joyous. Wishlist Neon Abyss 2 on Steam. We get a glimpse of Theia towards the trailer's end, as she menaces players with rainbow eyebeams. In other words, she looks to be a characteristically extravagant bossfight who will, no doubt, put paid to more than a few of your runs when the game finally hits in full. "Theia is a distorted blend of broken mirrors, sharp gemstones and radiant neon auras that dazzle from the beginning of the fight," say the devs. "Each attack across her three phases is accompanied by blinding flashes and shattering audio designed to disorientate Agents." Theia isn't all the trailer consists of, mind you. There's also a whole bunch of the game's four-player co-op combat, as you'd expect, and some time dedicated to showing off the weapons and abilities the game lets you put to use. All quite normal. Anyway, then there's fishing, beach sports, basketball, a sorta-kinda Bejeweled-esque minigame, and plenty else besides. I can't furnish you with information about any of this, really, except to say that catching a sufficiently large fish will apparently net you 365 points, which I imagine is good news.
