Nintendo Switch 2 System Update 22.5.0 Available — Here Are the Patch Notes
About
Overview
Nintendo has issued a fresh system software update for the Switch and Switch 2, bringing both consoles' firmware up to Version 22.0.5. The update is a relatively minor one, though adds additional language options for the latter console's text to speech functionality, and additional eShop options on the Switch 1. The older machine's eShop has been resdesigned, likely in a bid to make it easier to navigate as the store fills up with countless downloadable games. You can now make the eShop reflect your dark mode theme color, and set an access PIN to block access for anyone who might go on an unwanted spending spree. Another useful addition is the ability to skip forward/back 10 seconds when watching trailers via the eShop or the Switch 1's News section. Last week, Nintendo mapped out more of its upcoming release schedule for 2026 in its big Nintendo Direct broadcast — and you can catch up with everything that was announced right here. Upcoming exclusives include Star Fox (June 25), Rhythm Heaven Groove (July 2), Splatoon Raiders (July 23), Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave (September 17) and Nintendo Switch Sports: Resort (October 22). And then there's Nintendo's mysterious The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, which is due out before the end of 2026. Today's full patch notes lie below: Tom Phillips is IGN's News Editor.
