Rockstar Snuck Red Dead Redemption 2 Into Its GTA 6 Extended Look — And Of Course, Fans Spotted It Immediately
About
Overview
Did you spot the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 in last night's Grand Theft Auto 6 Extended Look? Rockstar's cowboy epic made a brief appearance — and, of course, some GTA 6 fans spotted it immediately. During a TV commercial for what might be the unhealthiest burger ever invented, a lush outdoor scene features in the background. A winding river courses through green trees, with several notable rock formations on its banks. Adorning the scene are an array of animals — which will presumably soon be turned into the burger's 30,000 calorie contents. Even more excitingly for Rockstar's fans, however, this was clearly footage taken within Red Dead Redemption 2, and players rushed to reach the exact spot. There's no array of animals here normally, and clearly Rockstar has made a couple of tweaks with its lighting. But the river is the same, as are the trees and most of the rocks. It's a fun Easter egg for fans of the developer's previous game, now looking forward to its next. If you want to visit it yourself, reddit user DangerousLeo (who found the exact spot) has highlighted the U-bend in the Kamassa River, north-west of Annesburg, just to the west of Deer Cottage. (How did DangerousLeo find the location so quickly? Well, they admit to having more than 730 hours logged on Red Dead Redemption 2 to date.) So, Red Dead Redemption 2 4K remaster confirmed? Not quite. It's likely Rockstar tweaked a version of its previous game simply for this in-game commercial, with the pre-existing location a handy substitute for using GTA 6's open world, which has likely kept changing through development.
