The Odyssey Rating and Custom IMAX Camera Popcorn Bucket Revealed
About
Overview
Director Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has been rated “R” by the Motion Picture Association, which means filmgoers under the age of 17 will be required to have a parent or guardian accompany them when screening the film. As Variety points out, most of Nolan’s other summer movies, such as his Dark Knight trilogy, earned PG-13 ratings, although an R rating didn’t prevent Oppenheimer from earning over $330 million at the domestic box office. The trade also reports that audience demand for premium format tickets such as IMAX 70mm “appears to be so high that AMC‘s ticketing app paused briefly. Sales have resumed, but wait times are up to an hour. … Fandango’s website also appeared to be dragging with users experiencing long wait times.” The Odyssey is the first film in history – and one of Nolan’s longest movies – to be shot entirely in IMAX, a milestone commemorated by the movie’s official popcorn bucket, which is in the shape of an IMAX camera. The Odyssey stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal. The Odyssey opens in theaters on July 17th.![]()
