The Vampire Lestat Is Getting a Collector's Edition Blu-ray Set Dedicated to The Beautiful Unwell
About
Overview
The third season of AMC’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s Interview With a Vampire wasn’t your usual seasonal release. Instead, the gothic vampire show pivoted to a new title, The Vampire Lestat. We were particularly big fans of the first two seasons, and got the chance to speak with the series showrunner about all of the big changes and moments in this new iteration. For anyone else who’s fallen for the charms of the vampire rockstar, The Vampire Lestat is now confirmed to be getting a spread of Blu-ray releases, including a limited edition Blu-ray box set. The big ticket item here is the limited edition Blu-ray, which is being framed as a “collector’s edition” release. This is the most expensive of the batch and the most likely to sell out without future re-stocks. It comes with all eight episodes of the new season on Blu-ray, tons of bonus features (detailed below), and some additional merch: The discs themselves come packaged with the same cover art as the standard Blu-ray, which features a punk-inspired still of the gritty, titular vampire. However, the limited-edition set packs that Blu-ray plus the additional CDs and merch into a "collector's" box sub-titled The Beautiful Unwell, Lestat's name for his devoted fanbase. Here’s a snippet from the official listing for the new release: “Created for the Brat Prince’s most faithful followers, The Vampire Lestat: The Beautiful Unwell Limited Edition Box Set is filled with exclusive keepsakes celebrating the music, spectacle, and legend of Lestat.” The Vampire Lestat will also be getting standard Blu-ray and DVD releases, which are particularly well-priced ($24.99 and $19.99, respectively) for a full season release. Aside from the full eight episodes, these both include the same bonus features listed above. Unlike the limited edition steelbook, which isn’t releasing until December 15, the standard DVD and Blu-ray will both begin shipping on November 3. The general Interview with the Vampire series has already been renewed for Season 4, and we already know it's going through another name change. "Queen of the Damned" will be the name and focus of the next season, though there's no word on when to expect it to premiere on AMC+.
