What does your dream videogame concert look like?
About
Overview
It feels like the last few years have seen a huge upsurge in videogame concerts, at least over here on British soil anyway. Undertale, The Legend of Zelda, Stardew Valley, The Witcher 3, Sonic, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Final Fantasy. The list goes on and on! It's been a heartwarming sight—despite my saltiness at half of them happening in London, a city that is both too far away for a casual evening and also far too London for me to willingly set foot in it more than twice a year—but I still yearn to see more of my favourite songs in a live setting. So it got me thinking, what would my ultimate videogame concert actually look like? Well, I'd probably be chucking in a whole lot of Square Enix nonsense a la Distant Worlds—give me Final Fantasy 10, FF12, FF14, and a little bit of FF13 on the side—but I would also kill to hear some Kingdom Hearts stuff with a live orchestra. Then I'd probably take a pivot away from JRPGs entirely to hear some songs from my childhood. I continue to be utterly obsessed with the soundtrack from Rare's Kameo: Elements of Power 20 years after I first played it, and it's the kind of music that absolutely deserves the full orchestral treatment. And to wrap it all up? Chuck in a DJ set full of remixes from some classic Tekken games. Is that a major tonal shift? Yes, but it's my dream videogame concert, not yours. Get your own! No, seriously, what would your dream concert look like? Is there a concert that already exists which you're desperately yearning to come to a city near you, or would you concoct some messed-up megamix even more cursed than my own? Leave a comment and be sure to let me know.Details
