Xbox Aware of 'Phantom Achievement' Glitch That's Robbing Players of 100% Completion
About
Overview
Xbox fans report being blocked from 100% completion in various games due to so-called "phantom achievements" — despite having collected the full 1,000 Gamerscore. A bug is currently showing progress in some Xbox games capped below 100%, even when all visible achievements have been collected. For those who grind out achievements or who care about their count of games at 100% completion, this is an annoying glitch — especially as Xbox is believed to be working on an equivalent to PlayStation's Platinum trophy feature in future. Thankfully, the cause of the issue appears to have already been tracked down, and Xbox is aware of the problem. Writing on X/Twitter, Xbox fan DarkIxion noted that the bugged games all seemed to be those with time-limited 0 Gamerscore challenges. As a day one Xbox One purchaser, I remember the console's short-lived timed challenges, which provided extra achievements beyond each game's base list. Dead Rising 3, Titanfall, and Call of Duty: Ghosts had them, as did several non-gaming apps such as Netflix and YouTube. Completing the requirements for these limited-time objectives would unlock exclusive bonus achievements — and while they provided 0 Gamerscore, they could also unlock extra game artwork or other in-game bonuses. Alguns jogos que fiz 1000g no Xbox estão com uma conquista a mais, e não é a conquista de 0g. Vão acrescentar a "platina"? Verifiquem aí pic.twitter.com/hxEPeKc3LK For those who missed out on a challenge, these 0G achievements did not appear in the game's main achievement list or count towards a game's 1,000 Gamerscore. But technically they were still attached to the game's data behind the scenes — something that this new bug is apparently surfacing. "We're looking into why this changed," wrote Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie, responding to reports on Twitter/X. "Thanks for the report!" Earlier this week, Microsoft insisted it was yet to "finalize" any changes to Xbox Game Pass, after a potential leak detailed plans to drop the inclusion of new titles from day one.
